Microsurgery is not just a highly specialized skill, but a true art form as well. Dentists know that to succeed with many microsurgery procedures, good quality tools and instruments are needed. Kerr Dental offers disposable scalpels that are especially designed for use in endodontic microsurgery. They come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and are available in a pack of three heads. The scalpels are double-ended and curved to easily access the entire oral cavity. Sutures must be strong, yet gentle enough to hold tissue while minimizing the risk for trauma. Kerr Dental is proud to offer the Tevdek sutures, which are stronger than silk and coated with Teflon to further minimize friction against sensitive tissues. The Teflon surface also reduces the risk of infection by lowering the ability of bacteria and other pathogens to stick to the sutures. To complement these sutures, Kerr suggests the KT needles, which create an incision, rather than a triangular hole to be less traumatic to the delicate gingiva. The Stropko Irrigator dispenses the correct amount of water or air pressure into the surgical field using a standard luer-lock small tip. This irrigator does not block the surgical field and is perfect for use under a microscope.Kerr Endodontic Curettes are as sharp and efficient as a scalpel, which minimizes patient recovery time. They are made from high quality surgical stainless steel and are easily sterilized in an autoclave. When retractors are needed for apical surgery, Kerr offers specialized retractors that are very comfortable for dentists to use. They have oversized handles, non-slip surfaces, and extra thumb support on the handle.
