As a declared fan of older Elements Obturation Unit I was amazingly pleased to meet the new Elements IC Obturation System. It seems to be the perfect tool that combines the 80s-90s Continuous Wave Technique pioneers’ high expectations with ultimate technology, design and ergonomics. Working with Elements IC means getting predictable root canal filling shapes without any effort and stress for the operator and when it comes about consumables, full compatibility with Elements Obturation Unit and Elements Free makes it the best choice for the former and actual users of these devices. But with the new Elements IC, the warm gutta percha techniques are not only for endo specialists anymore but they become possible and affordable for every single dentist and for every single patient.

Elements IC obturation device with inductive charging (without any cords and plugs) allows for very easy handling and maintaining. The obturation gets faster and easier with accomplished homogenous and three-dimensional sealing. A backfill cartridge is enough to fill four to five root canals. A set of hot pluggers allows the usage in all root canal widths.

Elements IC is a device for thermal gutta-percha root canal filling that consists of electronic plugger and independent backfill device. I use this method of treatment for many years now, but for the first time I see a device that allows to solve all the problems of thermal gutta-percha placing in root canals. Elements IC is rechargeable, and battery is very efficient, enough for a whole day of endodontic treatments – I can backfill about 20 root canals on one battery recharge. Base element for recharging works inductive, which means that it is very easy to put in and out both devices, without any risk of damaging it. Downpack device is constructed in a way that ensures safe use in root canal system. I think that one of the most important features is time limit for heating the plugger inside root canal. That way any problems with too high temperature of root dentine are eliminated. Backfill device is made based on a piston powered by electric micromotor. Such a solution allows for injection of flowable gutta-percha into canal system in a very ergonomic way. It eliminates any trouble with a hand fatigue during application of gutta-percha. Also tip of the device can be put into canal in any angle that is needed during clinical procedure. These features are not common for traditional devices with a gun like method of gutta-percha injection. Everyday use is also easier because of visible control of the amount of material left inside the cartridge. Elements IC brought me a lot of small improvements. If I will add all of them, I can say that thermal filling of a canal with gutta-percha is better than ever before.

I really liked Elements IC. Thanks to the developments, it is faster and more efficient to work with, than Elements Free. I like that I can check the gutta percha level on the backfill unit. Easier to keep it clean thanks to the new induction charger. My assistant loves it. Thanks to the ring button on the backfill unit more comfortable to use under microscope.
