Elements IC is a device for thermal gutta-percha root canal filling that consists of electronic plugger and independent backfill device. I use this method of treatment for many years now, but for the first time I see a device that allows to solve all the problems of thermal gutta-percha placing in root canals.
Elements IC is rechargeable, and battery is very efficient, enough for a whole day of endodontic treatments – I can backfill about 20 root canals on one battery recharge. Base element for recharging works inductive, which means that it is very easy to put in and out both devices, without any risk of damaging it.
Downpack device is constructed in a way that ensures safe use in root canal system. I think that one of the most important features is time limit for heating the plugger inside root canal. That way any problems with too high temperature of root dentine are eliminated.
Backfill device is made based on a piston powered by electric micromotor. Such a solution allows for injection of flowable gutta-percha into canal system in a very ergonomic way. It eliminates any trouble with a hand fatigue during application of gutta-percha. Also tip of the device can be put into canal in any angle that is needed during clinical procedure. These features are not common for traditional devices with a gun like method of gutta-percha injection. Everyday use is also easier because of visible control of the amount of material left inside the cartridge.
Elements IC brought me a lot of small improvements. If I will add all of them, I can say that thermal filling of a canal with gutta-percha is better than ever before.
